Hierapolis Ancient City: A Journey Back in Time (Part1)

Hello! Welcome back to my blog!

Today, I will share my experience visiting the ancient city of Hierapolis. This incredible place is located in Pamukkale, Denizli. It’s a destination where you can lose yourself in history, as it is home to many fascinating ancient ruins.

If you visit Hierapolis in the morning, you can take a hot air balloon ride and enjoy breathtaking views of both Hierapolis and the Pamukkale Travertines. If you don’t get the chance to do this, don’t worry—Hierapolis is still waiting to show you its rich history. You can learn so much about this remarkable place during your visit.

To start your journey, I recommend visiting the museum first. This museum houses many ancient artifacts, giving you valuable insight into the history of the region. After the museum, you can begin exploring the ancient city itself.

One fascinating fact I learned is that in ancient times, cities had public baths at their entrances. Visitors had to clean themselves in these baths before entering the city. It’s an interesting glimpse into the hygiene practices of the past.

As you enter the city, a grand avenue welcomes you. Walking along this avenue, you can’t help but admire its perfectly preserved design. It truly feels like you’re stepping back in time.

There are even more places to explore in Hierapolis. One spot I was eager to see but couldn’t visit is Hell’s Gate, also known as Pluto’s Gate. Unfortunately, it was closed for construction during my visit, but I hope to return and see it next time.

Finally, one of the most stunning structures in Hierapolis is the ancient theater. From the theater, you can enjoy a spectacular view of both the ancient city and the Pamukkale Travertines. This combination makes it one of the most beautiful spots in the area. The theater also occasionally hosts concerts, and I highly recommend attending one if you get the chance—it’s an unforgettable experience.

I hope you visit Hierapolis and create your own incredible memories. See you in my next post!
